We begin our tour on the Right Bank, the site where Paris was founded, succeeding the Gallo-Roman city of Lutetia. Here, we explore the Conciergerie, the first royal palace of the French kings, which was later transformed into a courthouse and prison during the Revolution—most notably, where Queen Marie Antoinette was imprisoned and tried. We'll then cross over to the Île de la Cité to admire Notre Dame Cathedral, an emblem of Paris and a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Continuing our journey across the Seine, we venture into the Latin Quarter, one of Paris's oldest neighborhoods. Named for the Latin language that dominated the area during the Middle Ages, this scholarly district was filled with schools that catered to students. As we navigate through its narrow streets—so tight that two people could barely pass each other—we'll conclude our tour with visits to two remarkable sites: the Hôtel de Cluny and the Sorbonne University.
