Country: hungary
Come with me and explore Budapest like never before! On this interactive live virtual tour we’ll see the great architectural monuments left to us by the Austro-Hungarian Empire from the Golden Age of Budapest and uncover the rich and turbulent history of this city through the centuries. Starting at the majestic Hungarian Parliament building – the largest building in the country and a monument to neo-gothic architecture – we’ll discuss the building and government’s history. Crossing over to Kossuth Square, the somber memorials and relics commemorate the desperate Hungarian freedom fights that occurred over the centuries. As we walk through the next neighborhood, we will explore an interesting mixture of public buildings and private homes, all with charming, decorated facades, balconies, and lovely doorways. This area is still a reminder of the 19th century splendor when Hungary flourished and enjoyed great privilege and freedom. We will also see the stunning Saint Stephen Basilica - the biggest Roman Catholic Church of Budapest - named after the first Hungarian king, the founder of the Hungarian state. Later we will stroll on a lovely pedestrian street full of cafes, restaurants and bars - Budapest is famous for it’s café culture! We will finish our walking tour by the Danube riverside with breathtaking views of the Buda side of the city and the iconic Chain Bridge.I look forward to sharing my historic and cosmopolitan city with you on this live-stream virtual tour. You’ll be able to ask me questions and chat with fellow participants as we journey through this classic European city together.
