Tokyo’s Most Colorful District And Temple, Sensoji at Asakusa

Country: japan

Asakusa is one of the most colorful districts in Tokyo. Join me on this interactive live virtual tour packed with traditional culture, nostalgic vibes, and a contrasting modern side to the city. The center of Asakusa is Sensoji, Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist temple. Built in the 7th century, it boasts a five-story pagoda and is a calming respite from the bustle of the modern business districts. Leading up to Sensoji, we’ll first cross the iconic Kaminarimon Gate and enter Nakamise shopping street. Nakamise is an impressive 250m packed with shops offering traditional crafts, souvenirs, sweets, and other treasures. I’ll share with you some of the special traditions we observe upon approaching the temple.Through a traditional garden with koi pond, we’ll arrive at the Shinto Asakusa Shrine, which stands next to Sensoji Temple. Here we see how Buddhism and Shinto coexist harmoniously.Returning to the busy city streets, we encounter stores and buildings emblematic of modern Japanese culture. Finally, we arrive at Sumida River, with a beautiful view of Tokyo’s modern waterfront. There are so many wonderful surprises I look forward to sharing with you on this live stream walking tour; both majestic main sites and hidden backstreets, and sharing with you the heart of Japanese culture. You’ll be able to ask me questions and chat with fellow participants as we journey through this city where tradition and modernity meet. Come explore Asakusa with me to experience true Japanese traditions and enjoy the way of life in Tokyo!
