Historic Casablanca Neighborhood Souk Walk: Markets, Hammam, and Hidden Corners

Country: morocco

Most visitors arrive in Casablanca with a few familiar images in mind, but this livestream walking tour is about the Casablanca locals know. We’ll begin at the Mahkama of the Pacha Old Courthouse and Al Adoul buildings to admire their distinctive Moroccan architecture, then continue to the Mohamadi Mosque. From there we’ll slip into the neighborhood’s narrow alleys to see a traditional hammam bathouse and make our way into the souk, including an inside visit to the olive market where you’ll learn what people buy, sell, and cook at home. Along the market streets lined with small shops, we’ll visit one of the area’s oldest public ovens still in use and stop by a traditional patisserie for a look at classic Moroccan pastries. We’ll wrap up near the Royal Palace of Casablanca, connecting the neighborhood’s daily rhythms to the city’s larger story.
